Airbnb users will be offered the opportunity to sign a contract stipulating four positions as a guarantee they will be “good city residents” during their stay. For each of these positions, the popular platform collaborates with one of Barcelona’s local, non-commercial organizations, including Red Cross, Barcelona Animal and Plant Protection League, Friends of the Elderly, and Arrels Fund.
Upon completing the booking procedure via Airbnb, a tourist receives a notification to his or her e-mail with “an invitation to become a good city resident,” along with access to the portal, www.neighbors.civiclub.org/en.The recipient can follow this link and, if desired, show loyalty by donating to the program’s NCO participants and sharing this information through social networks. The website also will calculate the total number of users to participate in the project.
At the same time, through a database consisting of more than 100,000 users, CiviClub and Airbnb plan to send invitations to local residents to join the community of “good neighbors” and to pass on invitations to their friends who plan to visit Barcelona in the future.
