The mayor’s office of the Catalonian capital has spent 8 million euros on the introduction of the “mega-center of sanitation,” which occupies an area of over 3000 square meters. The sanitation center includes a utility room that accommodates various personnel facilities and work equipment. Similar zones are already present in Horta park, near Avenida del Estatut, as well as in Sant Gervasi and in park el Torrent del Maduixer. The Joan Miró park houses 300 work places and 60 different types of machinery used to maintain the cleanliness of the park’s territory. The general appearance of the “mega-center of sanitation” has been elaborated in harmony with the artistic landscapes of the Joan Miró park.
The vast grounds devoted to this space also feature the building headquarters for the neighbors’ association of Parque del Escorxador, a space called “Espacios Verdes” for the personnel who take care of cleaning Joan Miró park, as well as the water supply unit for the famous “Woman and Bird” fountain.
