For several decades now, this building, located on number 17 Eivissa square and better known as Bloc 17, has been home to the offices of various public organizations in the Horta-Guinardó district. According to the city mayor’s office, the purchase of the building will be concluded with the participation of the district administration and the Social Rights Organization of Barcelona (Área de Derechos Sociales).
In collaboration with the organizations already located in Bloc 17, the district authorities have started developing initiatives to govern the further operation of the building. Additional youth organizations are expected to move into the edifice in the near future. Moreover, once the required repair works on the building are finished, the city plans to organize social housing there as well.
