La Pionera is scheduled to hold events regularly on weekdays. According to La Pionera’s official website, the project is meant to assist residents who wish to implement their own economic and social initiatives in Barcelona.
Every weekend, a sales and promotion group consisting of 30 participants will operate from La Pionera. In addition, the organizers plan to introduce recreational and gastronomic sections as well as two stages, where a variety of events and concerts will be held within the framework of the Cultura Viva program. Moreover, La Pionera will offer a weekly cultural program to include circus, dance, and fashion shows.
During La Pionera’s opening week, 30 apparel and jewelry designers presented their designs and products for children. Projects related to the mobile world, restaurants, design, and small production businesses were exhibited as well.
Organizers of the project estimate that approximately 80,000 people will visit the new space within the year. During the “hot season,” or touristic months, La Pionera will have extended working hours, remaining open from Friday to Sunday, from 12:00 midday to 22:00. In the wintertime, the hours of operation will be Saturday-Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 20:00.
