Old shop of ‘giant’ dolls is granted new life
The unique shop, El Ingenio, sells traditional puppets referred to as giants. These giants are important participants in the popular, traditional processions organized for Spanish holidays. Despite the giants’ fame, it has been a real challenge for the shop to survive financially. Nevertheless, El Ingenio has been fortunate, as a micro-patronage program has saved the shop.

Barcelona students embark on the archeological excavation of a XIX-century pottery workshop
A group of eight students from the University of Barcelona (UB) has begun excavation in the Raval district of Barcelona. The goal of this project, called ArqueUB, is to find and study the remains of the workshop of Antoni Tarrés, the famous pottery master of the XIX century. Also, they plan to carry out excursions to promote exhibitions for the general public.

Project of personalized social aid for elderly residents of Barcelona to be expanded
Created in 2008, Proyecto Radares was designed to provide assistance to the elderly. As of today, this plan has been implemented in 35 areas of Barcelona already. Now the government plans to introduce this initiative to the remaining 18 city districts over the next two years.
